April 7thof each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. This annual celebration aims to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization. The 2019 theme is: Universal Health Coverage- Everyone Everywhere
April also marks National Minority Health Month, where the aim is to raise awareness about the health disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minorities. Commissioned by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Serviced Office of Minority Health, the 2019 theme is Active & Healthy in efforts to promote physical activity to help people live healthier loves. An active and healthy lifestyle can help reduce the risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases.
Bronx Alumnae kicked off the month by participating in the New York Metro Coordinating Council’s (NYMCC) NY Metro DST @ NYRR RunCenter program on March 31st.
