Delta Sigma Theta has been committed to service through social action since its founding in 1913. Our 22 Founders participated in the Suffrage March of 1913, just two months after establishing the Sorority, and our members have been at the forefront of social and political struggles ever since.

The Bronx Alumnae Chapter’s Social Action Committee creates legislative programming for the entire Bronx community.  For the past two years, we have produced virtual events to ensure our community and members are engaged in the legislative process and knowledgeable of the issues that impact their communities, the Bronx, and the world.   Our focus is led by Delta Sigma Theta’s National Social Action Commission,  established in 1963, and its legislative priorities:

  • Voting Rights, Voting Access and Voter Engagement
  • Student Loan Debt Crisis
  • Redistricting
  • Economic Justice
  • Passing the Anti Lynching Act
  • Reimagining Public Safety
  • DC Statehood
  • Confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson

Bronx Alumnae Chapter continues the work of our Founders by advocating within our communities to improve quality of life, and ensure that equal rights are afforded to people who live and work in the Bronx.
